Peter Stoner
Kit Percussion (1990-2019)
About
Peter joined the band as a much needed percussionist around 1990. His impact was immediate and his added contribution to the band meant that we were able to expand our repertoire by playing pieces that simply would not work without an outstanding percussionist.
Peter worked hard as a silversmith and was often very busy at work, this lead to a couple of years throughout his tenure where he left the band to focus on work, these were lean times for the band and replacement players just were not of the same calibre. Luckily for the band, Peter re-joined on both occasions as soon as work pressure permitted. Each time the band were delighted to once again have him manning the percussion.
In 2019 Peter retired and moved away - here is what MD Ian Lanceley said in his annual report -
"Pete and Diane Stoner have retired and moved to Norfolk where we also wish them well. It is difficult to find words to describe Pete’s contribution to the band over many years so I’m not even going to try. Suffice to say that I have thoroughly appreciated his determination and professionalism as well as his support over all of that time. Thank you Pete!"
